Business Continuity Management (BCM)

Think Risk, Smarter Decisions.

Aims
Aimed at general staff, rather than Business Continuity Specialists and Emergency Service personnel, in order to provide them with an in depth understanding of the importance of Business Continuity Management to an organisation.

To do this in a user friendly format with case studies, tools and examples of best practice which can be used as a “thinking tool” so that people use their own experience to understand the issues and become alert to the importance of business continuity and able to identify key issues that may affect the organisation’s business continuity if there is a major impact event.

To do this in line with the BS25999 Guide on Business Continuity, but to make the language more easily understandable to the non-specialists.

Objectives

  1. To get the user to think through the key issues affecting the organisation and how that relates to its strategy.
  2. To familiarise them with tools which will help analyse risk and set out controls.
  3. To get them to think outside the organisation ,especially to suppliers and to IT and telecommunications, to understand vulnerabilities and options.
  4. To recognise how important communication on the risks and the responses is before, during and after an event to prevent risks occurring, and to protect and recover from them if they do.
  5. To have the templates to develop a business continuity plan for a stand alone section of the organisation, if required.

Duration and Content
The Course can be reviewed usefully in one hour, but to do each exercise in depth will take 3 hours and that is why we recommend that it is worth 3 CPD points. Each users has access to it for 12 months and can use the tools incorporated in it as many times as they wish during that period.
